What happens when you take a train deep underground, cut off from GPS signals, and still want to know exactly where it is in real-time?
You call HEXio.
Last week, our team conducted a live speed test of HEXio’s cutting-edge Underground Positioning System, and the results were nothing short of thrilling—for engineers and train lovers alike.
The Setup: 600 Meters of Pure Test Track
The test took place on a 600-meter underground test track, with HEXio positioning nodes installed at Point 0, Point 3, and Point 6—spaced every 300 meters. But here’s where it gets interesting:
Our AI detection model wasn’t just listening for those fixed points. It was trained to detect train movement every 100 meters—a fully configurable setting that can adapt to any use case, from subways to industrial trams.
Live Inside the Train
We boarded the train with a laptop, a camera, and the HEXio dashboard ready to roll.
As the train accelerated into the tunnel, the dashboard lit up. In real time, we saw:
- The location of the train updating on the map
- The speed adjusting second by second
- A live stream from the front of the train giving visual confirmation
Even underground, where GPS fails, HEXio didn’t.
The Tech Behind the Magic
What makes this possible is HEXio’s Ultra Low Power Wireless Technology. Each sensor unit requires minimal energy, yet maintains stable wireless communication through layers of concrete and steel.
That’s not just innovation—it’s scalable infrastructure for smart cities and rail systems worldwide.
Smarter Every Trip
With each test, our detection model gets sharper. Trained on real-world movement data, it can detect train location with increasing precision—and thanks to our flexible architecture, users can adjust the granularity of detection to match their operational needs.
100 meters today? Try 50 tomorrow. Or 10. The system is ready.
What’s Next?
This successful test is a leap forward—not just for us, but for railway operations, safety systems, and transit analytics across the board.
Whether it’s improving passenger information systems, automated control, or enabling new levels of predictive maintenance, HEXio is leading the charge.
HEXio Tech: One Meter at a Time
We believe that real-time underground positioning shouldn’t be a luxury—it should be a standard.
From tunnels to test tracks, we’re proving what’s possible. And this speed test is just the beginning.
Stay tuned. We’ve got a lot more track to cover.
